Is the War on OPEC really worth the damage it is doing to the US?

Officially, there never was a war Against OPEC. Unofficially the head cheeses of the government processioned what battles would be fought and which wars would get support, they gave many reasons of humanitarian aid, though, all in all we were fighting for resources. Why? Cause the U.S is losing power in this new Century, it is not the country that supported everyone in the world anymore, it's not the country that ended conflicts anymore, and it is not the country that's at the top anymore...If U.S controls the oil the U.S controls the economy, if the U.S controls the economy the U.S controls the world. That being said I do not think it is the direction the U.S should take, because oil is not forever, the U.S should instead start developing Green Fuel, Cause oil cans do go dry, but if the U.S controls Green power it will be back on top, maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually...
